Introduction to Monolith
MONOLITH is a new publishing company. Its founders, Jason Krause, Micah Faulkner, and Josh Dahl, met in a high school art class in Troy, Michigan. Through the mid-nineties they worked together publishing comics in Detroit with companies like Blink and Blue. Eventually, life took the three in different directions. Jason started a family, Micah worked as a tattoo artist, and Josh earned his degree in secondary education. Coincidence and the Internet brought Josh and Jason together again in 2005. Suddenly, the timing was right for them to begin work again on a project that Josh had been toying with for the last several years. Micah was consulted and brought in to work with them. The three friends found
themselves working together once again and Rapid City was born. Rapid City is the story of matured super heroes returning to their super heroic roots just as MONOLITH is the result of three friends bringing their collective experience and knowledge back to the self-publishing arena.

Monolith introduces Rapid City
Rapid City is a maxi-series comic book encompassing several smaller story arcs. The super heroic adventures in these stories are loosely inspired by writer Josh Dahl’s
experiences in the Kalamazoo punk rock music scene. Characters like Spade, Wraith and Sidekick represent bands, attitudes toward music, and even specific individuals.
